THE HUSKY
Bassett Candy of Sheffield, England issued these cards
in 1967. The following is printed on the back of the card:
"The name Husky is given to sledge dogs generally,
but there are several kinds of them. All Huskies are
strong, thick set dogs of sixty to seventy pounds,
about twenty-four inches at the shoulder with thick,
dense coats which are weather-resistant, enabling
the dog to live out of doors in very low temperatures.
Huskies have sharp noses, prick ears and curly tails."
Siberian Husky Card 1(Bassett Candy, 1967)... $5.95 each
Esquimaux
Players issued these beautiful paintings 'Dogs-Scenic Background'
in 1925. Printed on the back of the card:
"Most varieties of dogs of the Northern climes greatly
resemble the Esquimaux (or Eskimo). All have prick ears,
pointed muzzles, and curled tails carried on their backs,
but none have quite the same wolf-like expression or
the peculiar fur-like coat. Esquimaux are closely related
to the wolf, but are of great utility to the natives, who
are entirely dependent upon them for the means of
travelling, which is accomplished with sledges drawn by
teams of these dogs. Colour varies from pure white
and silvery grey to brown. Height at shoulder 21 ins.
Weight about 50 lbs."
Siberian Husky Card 2(Players Scenic, 1925)... $7.95 each
SIBERIAN HUSKY
National Geographic World Dog Series 6, was issued in 1970.
The back of the card says:
"Traders from Siberia brought huskies to Alaska around
1900. The Traders valued the dogs for their even tempers
and endurance. Huskies have thick waterproof coats that
keep them warm and dry in cold climates. They also have
broad feet that help them run easily over snow.
These strong speedy dogs have pulled sleds for many Arctic
explorers." COAT-soft, medium-long fur in two layers. COLOUR-white to black with varied markings. HEIGHT-20-23in (50-58 cm) WEIGHT-35-60 lb (16-27 kg)
Siberian Husky Card 3(National Geographic, 1970)... $9.95 each
ESKIMO.
Another painting from Players. These were larger and enclosed
in their packages of 20 cigarettes in 1929. The artist is Arthur Wardle.
On the reverse side of the card:
"Many varieties of dogs bred in Northern climes greatly
resemble the Eskimo (or Esquimaux). All have prick ears,
pointed muzzles, and curled tails carried over their
backs, but none have quite the same wolf-like expression
or the peculiar fur-like coat. Eskimos are closely related
to the wolf, and are of great utility to the natives as
transport animals. Long distances are covered by
Eskimo-dog teams in Labrador, Alaska and elsewhere.
The colour of the Eskimo varies from pure white and
silvery grey to brown. Height at shoulder 21 ins.
Weight about 50 lbs."
Siberian Husky Card 4(Players Dogs Heads, 1929)... $19.95 each
HUSKIE
Weeties 'Favourite dogs-New Zealand" were issued in 1940
and enclosed in cereals Weeties, Crispies and Vitabrits.
The following appears on the back of the card:
"The Huskies, or Eskimo, dog is probably the hardest
working animal in the canine world. Used in the snow
regions, they run at amazing speeds, drawing heavy
loads until they literally drop in their tracks.
In the summer the Huskie spends most of his time
resting, getting ready for the winter months, when
he works so hard."

DO remember what a pal you have in your dog and be a
pal to him. He needs fresh, clean drinking water
each day.
Siberian Husky Card 5(Weeties Favourite dogs New Zealand, 1940)... $24.95 each
ESQUIMAUX DOG.
Wills issued 'Dogs 2nd Series" in 1915. There were 25 cards
in the series, with the Siberian Husky being no. 20. The
following is printed on the back of the card:
"This dog is the most wolf-like of all the domestic breeds.
His small upright ears, straight bushy tail, sharp muzzle
and rough coat gives him so close a resemblance to the grey
Arctic wolf that it seem quite certain that the breeds are
very intimately related. The Esquimaux Dog is generally
believed to have been the ancestor of the well-known Pomeranian
or German Spitz breeds. It is only from a comparatively
recent date, however, that the Esquimaux and Samoyede dogs
themselves have been reared and exhibited in this country.
The Esquimaux Dogs of Arctic America, Siberia and Kamtchatka
resemble one another very closely, the principal difference
being that of colour. They are wonderful hunters and most
skilful fishers."
Siberian Husky Card 6(Wills Dogs 2nd Series, 1915)... $24.95 each
The Goodwin & Co. published these cards 'Dogs of the world'
in 1890 and enclosed them in Old Judge Cigarettes.
This was 112 years ago. There is nothing printed on the back
of the card except the name of the cigarette company and the
locations of New York and London. This card is in excellent
condition. A must to complete a collection.
Siberian Husky Card 7(Goodwin Dogs of the World, 1890)... $69.95 each
Siberian Huskys Post Card
What an awesome post card from Australia. This a first day of issue
May 17, 2001. There will be no more of this first issue. You really don't expect
to get a winter snow scene with Siberian Huskies from Australia but
here you have it, with a beautiful stamp from the Antarctic affixed to
the front of the card. You can acquire this card and stamp
for the price of the card alone. I have only one.
Siberian Husky Post Card 1... $10.95 each
Siberian Husky Envelope from Russia... $4.95 each
Siberian Huskys Playing Cards
Unfortunately, I don't have any full decks of Siberian Playing Cards. These are
either samples of vintage cards, or from decks where the Husky is only one of
the cards in the deck. They are still a wonderful addition to any collection.

Siberian Husky Playing Card 3... $4.95 each
ESKIMO DOG
The following is printed on the back of the card.
Character:
It is one of the Spitz dogs which inhabit the Arctic regions.
The likeness is even more pronounced when the dog lifts its
upper lip in its characteristic "laugh". The neck is powerful,
muscular and rather short, and the massive, sturdy body with
its heavy bone structure is set on strong, straight legs
with very powerful low hocks. Its splayed feet prevent
the dog from sinking into the snow.
Coat:
Its profuse coat is of hair 7-15cm long, shorter only on the
heads, covering a dense, oily undercoat, which enables it to
endure temperatures of up to 60-70 below zero.
Size: 30-50 kg
Country Origin: Canada.
Siberian Husky Playing Card 4... $6.95 each
Siberian Husky Playing Card 5... $4.95 each
This deck of cards was produced in Japan several years ago. There
