Scottish Terrier stamp from Antigua & Barbuda Scottish Terrier stamp from Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua & Barbuda are a pair of sister islands in the north east Caribbean that became a nation when Great Britain "gave them their freedom." The two islands are not always at ease with each other since Barbuda contains 40% of the land but only 10% of the people and they prefer to not be developed by outsiders. In 1994, they put out two sets of stamps in honor of The Year of the Dog. There were 12 large breeds and 12 small breeds. The stamp on the left is from the set of small breeds. The stamp on the right in 1999..

Scottish Terrier stamp from Bulgaria

A stamp from 1970, 37 years old. A nice headstudy.
The Bulgars, A Central Asian Turkic Tribe, merged with the local slavic inhabitants in the late 7th century to form the first Bulgarian state. In succeeding centuries, Bulgaria struggled with the Byzantine Empire to assert its place in the Balkans, but by the end of the 14th century the country was overrun by the Ottoman Turks. Bulgaria regained its independence in 1878, but having fought on the losing side in both World Wars, it fell within the Soviet sphere of influence and became a Peoples Republic in 1946. Communist domination ended in 1990. The country is slightly larger than Tennessee. The capital is Sofia.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Congo Republic

This stamp was issued in 1997.
The Congo is situated in west central Africa astride the equator. Its area is nearly three times that of Pennsylvania. Most of the inland is tropical rain. It is a dictatorship. After the Portuguese located the Congo River in 1482, commerce was carried on with the tribes, especially the slave trade. During World War II the colony joined Chad in supporting the Free French cause against the Vichy government. The Congo proclaimed its independence without leaving the French Community in 1960, calling itself the Republic of Congo.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Dagestan

Dagestan is one of the republics of the former USSR. Located between the Caspian Sea on the East and Caucasus mountains on the West, it is probably one of the most attractive places in that part of the globe. Its area is close to that of Scotland. With population of just above 2 million people, Dagestan is the homeland to over 36 different nationalities, and each one of those nationalities has its own unique language. Such combination of languages, cultures, types of landscape and customs makes it a one of a kind place in the world. These days, however, Dagestan is going through the times of heavy unrest, both political and ethnical.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Grenada

A lovely drawing from Grenada in 1995.
Grenada is described as a spice island, because it produces large quantities of cloves and mace and about a third of the world’s nutmeg. It also grows cacao, sugar, bananas and a wide variety of other fruit and vegetables. Some of its beaches, especially Grand Anse, a dazzling two-mile stretch of white sand, are very fine, but the rest of the island is just as beautiful, rising from a generally rugged coast to a spectacular mountainous interior. The island is green, well forested and cultivated and is blessed with plenty of rain in the wet season. Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands. In contrast to other Windward Islands, which have had a similar history of disputed ownership between the French and English, the French cultural influence in Grenada has completely died out. The population is very young; 38% are under 15 years old and nearly 26% are in the 15-29 years’ age bracket.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Kalmykia

This 'quizical' white Scottish Terrier stamp was issued by kalmykia in 2001.
Kalmykia is a republic within the Russian Federation. The Kalmyks settled the Volga River region in the seventeenth century. A Mongol people, they were originally Buddhist in faith. Annexed to Russian in 1771, a Kalmyk Autonomous Province was created by the Bolsheviks in 1920. This was abolished during the Second World War, when, in common with many other ethnic minorities, the Kalmyks were deemed to have displayed insufficient enthusiasm for fighting for Communism. The customary mass deportations followed. An Autonomous Republic was re-established in 1958.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Kamchatka Scottish Terrier stamp from Kamchatka

Kamchatka, a peninsula comparable in size to Japan, is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, as well as the Bering and Okhotskoe Seas, and contains the last stretches of Siberian taiga. Russia's large volcanic belt, made up of 28 active craters, stretches along its shore. Though the flora and fauna, as is characteristic of northern regions, is not marked by diversity, more than half of the world's Steller's Sea Eagles, as well as the largest population of brown bears, are found here.
In the center of Kamchatka is found Eurasia's only Geyser Valley. More than 150 thermal springs are scattered throughout the peninsula. Kamchatka is very sparsely populated, averaging less than 1 person per square kilometer. Most of the inhabitants live in the regional capital, but a traditional way of life continues in the peninsula's many scattered villages. Despite its pristine appearance, however, Kamchatka struggles with pollution problems, much of it stemming from the large military presence on the Peninsula.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Karakalpakia

Karakalpakia, now under the domain of Uzbekistan, is on the edge of the shrinking Aral Sea, which has recently revealed a shocking scale of environmentally induced disease. Women and children are most severely affected from the spread of pesticides and other pollutants as the lake - once the fourth largest in the world - has turned into a desert, its waters siphoned off to irrigate vast cotton fields and rice paddies in Central Asia. Over 20 per cent of the young women, aged 13-19, have kidney disease, and another 23 per cent suffer from thyroid dysfunctions. And many women have high levels of lead, zinc and strontium in their blood. Although the Aral Sea probably has less than 10 years of life left, if nothing is done to salvage what remains of it, the 1.1 million residents of Karakalpakia are under immediate health threats. If nothing is done to improve the health of the people we may be witnessing the end of another entire society as a result of human folly. This stamp was issued in 1998.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Paraguay

A really nice Scottie from Paraguay in 1986.
In the disastrous War of the Triple Alliance (1865-70), Paraguay lost two-thirds of all adult males and much of its territory. It stagnated economically for the next half century. In the Chaco War of 1932-35, large economically important areas were won from Bolivia. The 35-year military dictatorship of Alfredo STROESSNER was overthrown in 1989, and, despite a marked increase in political infighting in recent years, relatively free and regular presidential elections have been held since then.
Paragury is located in Central South America, northeast of Argentina. It is slightly smaller than California. It has a subtropical to temperate climate. The capital is Asuncion. A large percentage of the population derives their living from agricultutal activity, often on a subsistence basis. It is landlocked; lies between Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil; the population is concentrated in southern part of the country.

Tanzania, the largest country in East Africa, is renowned for its magnificent wildlife, lakes, mountains, and scenery. The country boasts a wealth of natural attractions, including the famed Ngorongoro crater and the formidable Mount Kilimanjaro. It is also home to magnificent game reserves: Gombe Stream National Park, with its chimpanzee sanctuary; and the breathtaking plains of the Serengeti National Park, which hosts the annual migration of at least two million wildebeest with leopards and lions hot on their heels. Add to this the lovely beaches of the exotic islands of Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia. Tanzania recently issued a couple different sets of dog stamps, including this White Scottish Terrier.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Touva

Touva produced this nice stamp in 1999.
Touva (often spelled Tuva) is a country in the southern area of Siberia. It's a unique place with the landscapes ranging from the desert to the permafrost, and local fauna-from camels to reindeers. Touva is known as almost the only place in the world where shamanism, a very ancient religion, is preserved, kept and cultivated in its original form.
The republic of Touva lies at the upper reaches of the Siberian Yenisey River and forms a barrier between Russia and Mongolia. Since its independence from the former Soviet Union, Tuva continues to struggle to work on the appropriate way to safeguard and develop its own identity and sovereignty going through the difficult changes from a command-orientated planned economy towards an open market economy. Like so many other former Russian states, the diversity of the people is starting to be felt as the original culture, traditions and religion are gaining more followers.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Venda

The year of issue for this stamp from Venda is 1994.
Venda is a part of South Africa. Under acts of the South African Parliament, land ws set aside for blacks in psudeoindependent territories (originally called "Bantustans"), allegedly to allow black self- government and cultural preservation. Venda was designated for Venda-speaking people. In reality the homelands allowed the white government to control blacks and exclude them from the political process. In 1973, Venda was granted "self-government," and in 1979 it became the third homeland to be granted "independence" from south Africa. As an independent state, all residents of Venda were treated as foreignors in the remainder of South Africa. The UN Security Council condemned the homelands policy as an attempt by the white government to further apartheid and Venda was not recognized internationally as an independent state. Venda was reabsorbed into South Africa in 1994.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Sierra Leone

Scottish Terrier stamp from Sierra Leone Sierra Leone was a British colony to which freed slaves returned in the late 1700's. After Independence in 1961, a small political elite, who exclusively profited from the lucrative trade in diamonds, dominated successive governments. Little of this national income trickled down to benefit the rest of the population. After much fighting and insurrection the UN was finally convinced to send a peacekeeping force that was in the news for many months.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Micronesia

Isn't this an awesome Souvenir Sheet for the Scottish Terrier collector? Or a history buff also might enjoy collecting this sheet. It gives you a lot of information in a small area. don't miss this one. It is the only one I have and have not been able to get another.
In 1525 Portuguese navigators in search of the Spice Islands (Indonesia) came upon Yap and Ulithi, now in Micronesia. Spanish expeditions later made the first European contact with the rest of the Caroline Islands. Spain claimed sovereignty over the Caroline Islands until 1899. At that time, Spain withdrew from its Pacific insular areas and sold its interests to Germany, except for Guam which became a US insular area. Japan took over during World War II and by the War's conclusion most infrastructure had been laid waste by bombing, and the islands and people had been exploited by the Japanese Military to the point of impoverishment. After the war, the United Nations set up a trust that was administered by the US. On July 12, 1978 the people voted in a referendum to form a Federation under the Constitution of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Scottish Terrier stamp from St. Vincent

Caribs were the first inhabitants of St. Vincent. Columbus marked the presence of the island on his third voyage in 1498, but didn't go ashore. The Caribs were tenacious, keeping the European conquistadors at bay longer than on any other island.
In 1787, Captain William Bligh set sail from England on the Bounty, bound for Tahiti. The purpose of the voyage, which ended in mutiny, was to collect breadfruit plants and transport them to St. Vincent for use as food for slaves. In 1793 Bligh eventually arrived in St. Vincent on another ship loaded with breadfruit seedlings. The fruit would make the island famous. To this day, bananas are the main export from the island.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines achieved independence in 1979. The islands have produced many stamps over the years, including this Scottish Terrier Souvenir Sheet.

Scottish Terrier stamp from Tuvalu

Scottish Terrier stamp from Tuvalu Tuvalu consists of a densely populated, scattered group of nine coral atolls about one-half of the way from Hawaii to Australia. The island is about 0.1 times the size of Washington, DC. In 1974, ethnic differences within the British colony of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands caused Polynesians of the Ellice Islands to vote for separation from the Micronesians of the Gilbert Islands. The following year, the Ellice Islands became the separate British colony of Tuvalu. Independence was granted in 1978. In 2000, Tuvalu negotiated a contract leasing its Internet domain name "tv" for 50 million in royalties over the next dozen years. The climate is tropical moderated by easterly trade winds spring and summer and westerly gales and heavy rains in the fall and winter. "Tuvalu" means 'group of eight' referring to the country's eight traditionally inhabited islands.

* We can take visa/mc/disc or paypal, but they are first come first served, so let me know if you are interested. We try to keep all stamps in stock, so we probably have the ones that you are looking for.

* Truly one of the cheapest unique treats for yourself or a friend (great for club trophies as well!)

* It is absolutely true that you will often find some of these stamps at very reasonable prices -- some can be had for under a dollar. On the other hand, if you add in the gas, hours, and hassles that it has taken to find them, you may find it easier to just get them from us while we have them :*) I don't always count on getting more in the near future. I get them when I can find them and the stock is not always constant.

* I do have other breeds available. Let me know and perhaps I can do a page for your breed.
