This envelope is a first day of issue from DUBAI featuring the

The United Arab Emirates is a middle Eastern country situated

Persian Gulf, comprising seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman. DUBAI,

they were known as the Trucial Sttes or Trucial Oman, in reference
of a nineteenth-century truce between the British and some Arab

This gorgeous souvenir sheet is from Madagascar, an island off the eastern coast of
Africa. In addition to the running Salukis, it shows a Dressage horse, a small herd
of Gazelle, Siamese cats and the Coton de Tulear that is a native of that island. I
had a copy of this once and took a color xerox years ago that this scan is taken from,
but have never seen the real thing since, sorry.
Update, I have found three copies for some lucky people.
Saluki Souvenir Sheet from Madigascar... $26.95 each

Guinea is partial heir to the series of west African empires
that, at their height before the arrival of the Europeans,
cast significant political and commercial influence over many
peoples from Guinea's Atlantic coast to the southern edge of
the Sahara. The empires of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai spanned
the period from about the 10th to the 15th centuries.
French military penetration into the area began in the
mid-19th century. Guinea became an independent republic in 1958.
Saluki Souvenir Sheet from Guinea... $7.95 each
Mozambique is 111 years old. The country came into existence in
its present form as a result of an Anglo-Portuguese treaty of
May 1891 and gained its independence from Portugal in 1975. The
Mozambique created in 1891 was not a piece of random map drawing
but an attempt to make sense of the history of the region in a
single colonial state. In doing so, it accepted a part of the
African coast, which was established in the sixteenth century
when the Portuguese divided their command in eastern Africa
between the states of Mozambique and Mombassa.
Saluki Souvenir Sheet from Mozambique... $12.95 each
Somalia, also called the Somali Democratic Republic, is located on the Horn of
Africa, the easternmost part of the African continent. Although it gained its
independence in 1960, nearly constant unrest has kept it from establishing a
lasting presence in the area.
Saluki Souvenir Sheet from Somalia... $13.95 each
Saluki Stamp alone... $9.95 each
This is not as old as the others, but equally hard to find.
It was issued by the Republic of China
and you have to look close to see the Sighthound in the bottom right hand corner of the right stamp.
There are so many nice parts to this souvenir sheet that I have pulled some
enlargements for your enjoyment. Since this is not listed as a "dog stamp", I have
had to go through other sources to obtain them.
Saluki China Hunting Party Souvenir Sheet... $12.95 each

In a breed of beautiful animals and equally beautiful stamps, this set is head and
shoulders above anything else that I have seen. These three Salukis (and the one below)
were gathered from two very rare and expensive sets of dogs from China (the others
in the sets were six Greyhounds and a Tibetian Mastiff.) These ten were presented
as a gift to the emperor, note the Imperial Seals. These are the works of the Italian
Jesuit Priest Guiseppe Castiglione who resided in the forbiden city during the
Qing Dynasty. His oil paintings of Chinese arts is one of a kind, he has no
successor, most of his works are in museums.
Treat yourself or someone special
to a wonderful gift.

* We can take visa/mc/disc or paypal, but they are first come first served,
so let me know if you are interested.
* Truly one of the cheapest unique treats for yourself or a friend (great for
club trophies as well!)
* It is absolutely true that you will often find some of these stamps at very
reasonable prices -- some can be had for under a dollar. On the other hand, if
you add in the gas, hours, and hassles that it has taken to find them, you may
find it easier to just get them from us while we have them :*) I don't always
count on getting more in the near future. I get them when I can find them and
the stock is not always constant.
* I do have other breeds available. Let me know and perhaps I can do a page for
your breed.
