It is Great Britain's chief naval base on the route through the Suez Canal to the Far East. The peninsula is about 3 miles (5 kilometers) long and less than a mile wide. Its area is 2.25 square miles (5.8 square kilometers). The rock is mostly limestone with cliffs and sandy slopes. Its greatest height of 1,396 feet (426 meters) is reached near the southern end. The city of Gibraltar, mostly on level ground on the west of the rock, lies on the deep Bay of Gibraltar. The harbor is a port of call where ships take on fuel, stores, and water. England is the largest and most populous division of the island of Great Britain, making up the south and east. The capital of the United Kingdom is the city of London, situated near the southeaster tip of England. The term England should never be used to describe Britain, because England is only one part of the island. The United Kingdom is a small nation, roughly the size of Colorado or Oregon. The climate, in general, is mild, chilly, and often wet. Rain or overcast skies can be expected for up to 300 days per year. In general, British subjects belong to one of the more affluent states of Europe and enjoy a high standard of living compared to the rest of the world. Grenada issued the stamp on the left in 1995 and the stamp on the right in 1993.
Grenada is described as a spice island, because it produces large quantities of cloves and mace and about a third of the world’s nutmeg. It also grows cacao, sugar, bananas and a wide variety of other fruit and vegetables. Some of its beaches, especially Grand Anse, a dazzling two-mile stretch of white sand, are very fine, but the rest of the island is just as beautiful, rising from a generally rugged coast to a spectacular mountainous interior. The island is green, well forested and cultivated and is blessed with plenty of rain in the wet season. Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands. In contrast to other Windward Islands, which have had a similar history of disputed ownership between the French and English, the French cultural influence in Grenada has completely died out. Yellow Labrador Retriever
stamp from Karakalpakia

This stamp was issued in 1999 by Karakalpakia.
Karakalpakia, now under the domain of Uzbekistan, is on the edge of the shrinking Aral Sea, which has recently revealed a shocking scale of environmentally induced disease. Women and children are most severely affected from the spread of pesticides and other pollutants as the lake - once the fourth largest in the world - has turned into a desert, its waters siphoned off to irrigate vast cotton fields and rice paddies in Central Asia. Over 20 per cent of the young women, aged 13-19, have kidney disease, and another 23 per cent suffer from thyroid dysfunctions. And many women have high levels of lead, zinc and strontium in their blood. Although the Aral Sea probably has less than 10 years of life left, if nothing is done to salvage what remains of it, the 1.1 million residents of Karakalpakia are under immediate health threats. If nothing is done to improve the health of the people we may be witnessing the end of another entire society as a result of human folly.

The Republic of Karelia is a remarkably beautiful land of white nights, boundless forests, and blue lakes. It is located on the border of Western and Eastern Europe, on the border of cultures and religions. Severe beauty of its nature, the climate, not too favourable in these latitudes, the coexistence and intermingling of various peoples inhabiting this land for centuries all that conditioned the character of the people living here: very laconic, self-assured, contemplative, and tolerant people. It also accounts for the fact that there is no national strife and terrorism in this land.

This is a new small stamp from Mozambique. The drawings are intricate and fine. The name of the artist is not known.
Mozambique is 111 years old. The country came into existence in its present form as a result of an Anglo-Portuguese treaty of May 1891 and gained its independence from Portugal in 1975. The Mozambique created in 1891 was not a piece of random map drawing but an attempt to make sense of the history of the region in a single colonial state. In doing so, it accepted a part of the African coast, which was established in the sixteenth century when the Portuguese divided their command in eastern Africa between the states of Mozambique and Mombassa.

stamp from New Zealand

The British colony of New Zealand became an independent dominion in 1907 and supported the UK militarily in both World Wars. About 80% of the population lives in cities; Wellington is the southern most national capital in the world. The seat of government in New Zealand was moved from Auckland to Wellington in 1865, largely on the basis of Wellington's central geographical position.
Auckland is New Zealand's largest urban area with population of just under a million people. It is NOT the capital, although it was at one time, until the capital moved to Wellington. Auckland has more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world, and is the current residence of the America's Cup. It is a water lover's paradise, with some of the best beaches, swimming, diving, fishing, sailing, windsurfing and watersports in the country. Yellow Labrador Retriever
stamp from Stroma

Driving along the far north coast of Scotland, the question one is asked more often than most from visitors is "What island is that?", as they point to the pretty little island two miles off the coast. This then will more often than not lead to a long discussion on the history of Stroma, a once thriving Scottish community that is left today to the sheep and cattle.
To the naked eye looking over to the island from mainland Canisbay or John O'Groats, one can easily imagine that Stroma is still very much alive. the buildings are clearly visible and one could imagine sight of their occupants. But thru the eyes of binoculars it quickly becomes apparent that the buildings no longer protect islanders from the elements but rather are shelter for the sheep who today are the only full-time inhabitants. It has become now as other populated islands have become deserted monuments to human 'progress'. The final death of Stroma came in 1961. The two mile stretch of unfriendly and dangerous water between Stroma and the mainland was the main reason for the total depopulation of the island. many would not have left Stroma if transport to and from the island could have been easier. No bridge or proper ferry service was ever provided.

Though the first free elections were held in 1991, the political environment has been one of continued instability with frequent changes in leadership and coup attempts in 1995 and 2003. Yellow Labrador Retriever stamp from St.Vincent Yellow Labrador Retriever stamp from St.Vincent

Caribs were the first inhabitants of St. Vincent. Columbus marked the presence of the island on his third voyage in 1498, but didn't go ashore. The Caribs were tenacious, keeping the European conquistadors at bay longer than on any other island.
In 1787, Captain William Bligh set sail from England on the Bounty, bound for Tahiti. The purpose of the voyage, which ended in mutiny, was to collect breadfruit plants and transport them to St. Vincent for use as food for slaves. In 1793 Bligh eventually arrived in St. Vincent on another ship loaded with breadfruit seedlings. The fruit would make the island famous. To this day, bananas are the main export from the island.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines achieved independence in 1979. The islands have produced many stamps over the years, including these Labrador Retrievers(Yellow)

Yellow Labrador Retriever
stamp from Tadjikistan

Tadjikistan plays a fascinating role in the power struggle in central Asia. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the declaration of independence by the former Soviet republics, Tadjikistan acquired national sovereignty for the first time in history. Inexperience, in conjunction with a particular clan-oriented, regional-based, political culture established the foundation for the prolonged conflict that ensued in post-Soviet Tadjikistan. The intensity of this conflict has been further fueled by the ethnic and historical externalities of the unresolved political situation in Afghanistan.
Today, Russia's interests in Tadjikistan center around preserving its economic and geopolitical position in Central Asia. These interests, however, conflict with those of the newly independent states in the region, which are focused on preventing Tadjikistan from becoming a "Russian protectorate." In this respect, resolution of the civil war in Tadjikistan is part of the broader problems of reconstituting global spheres of influence and establishing a "new world order" in the wake of the Soviet collapse.
In addition to the seemingly obvious military, strategic, and geopolitical factors, there are critical economic issues that underlie Russia's interests in retaining Tadjikistan within its sphere of influence. Tadjikistan is a mountainous country, rich in fuel and mineral deposits. Tadjikistan's potential to generate hydroelectric power is second only to Russia among CIS member states. Moreover, not so long ago, Tadjikistan was Moscow's main supplier of several minerals, as well as cotton. Finally, the country has the resources and infrastructure to become a major industrial power in the region.
This country is worth studying on its own and now it has issued some of the nicest stamps available from any country including this Yellow Labrador Retriever coupled with the Black Labrador Retriever.

Yellow Labrador Retriever stamp from Micronesica In 1525 Portuguese navigators in search of the Spice Islands (Indonesia) came upon Yap and Ulithi, now in Micronesia. At that time, Spain withdrew from its Pacific insular areas and sold its interests to Germany, except for Guam which became a US insular area. Japan took over during World War II and by the War's conclusion most infrastructure had been laid waste by bombing, and the islands and people had been exploited by the Japanese Military to the point of impoverishment. Though the first free elections were held in 1991, the political environment has been one of continued instability with frequent changes in leadership and coup attempts in 1995 and 2003. The recent discovery of oil in the Gulf of Guinea is likely to have a significant impact on the country's economy. Yellow Labrador Retriever
stamp from Tadjikistan

 Labrador Retriever
stamp from Tadjikistan Labrador Retriever
stamp from Tadjikistan Tadjikistan plays a fascinating role in the power struggle in central Asia.
This country is worth studying on its own and now it has issued some of the nicest stamps available from any country.
This is probably one of the most amazing mini sheets ever produced. There are eighteen breeds represented and they have managed to run a perforation line through all but one. My, what an accomplishment. The Yellow Labrador Retrievers are shown enlarged to the left and right.

* We can take visa, mastercard, discover, or PayPal. We try to keep all stamps in stock, so we probably have the ones that you are looking for.

* Truly one of the cheapest unique treats for yourself or a friend (great for club trophies as well!)

* It is absolutely true that you will often find some of these stamps at very reasonable prices -- some can be had for under a dollar. On the other hand, if you add in the gas, hours, and hassles that it has taken to find them, you may find it easier to just get them from us while we have them :*) I don't always count on getting more in the near future. I get them when I can find them and the stock is not always constant.

* I do have other breeds available. Let me know and perhaps I can do a page for your breed.
