This card is No. 47 in the series of 48 of Gallaher's "Dogs
2nd Series" issued in 1938. The following is printed on the back of
the card.
CURLEY-COATED RETRIEVER
"The Curly-coated is the rarest of the retrievers and is a great
water dog, being as happy in the water as on land. He is
typical in shape and temperament, and is considered by some authorities
to be the original Retriever stock. The race is renowned for its
friendliness and intelligence, and before any Retriever can
prefix his name with 'Champion' he must pass a field trial, to ensure
that he is not merely a show speciman."
