Boxer Stamps
Uncropped Boxers

The world has gone crazy with new Boxer stamps and it couldn't happen to a nicer breed. There are so many wonderful Boxer stamps that I have decided to separate them into pages for "Uncropped" (this page) and "Cropped", and for fun, a separate page for "Puppies". Boxers have a wonderful selection of both cards and stamps from around the world.
We have broken them into four pages:
Boxer (cropped) Stamps from Around the World
Boxer Puppy Stamps from Around the World
Boxer Tobacco and Tea Cards from Around the World

Boxer stamps from Angola

This great stamp from Angola was issued in 2000.
Angola is in Africa near the Congo and on the Atlantic Coast. Portuguese is the official language of the government and business, but only about 42 percent of the population of 10 million is literate, 56 percent of males and 28 percent of females. The current issues facing the country are overuse of pastures and subsequent soil erosion attributable to population pressures; desertification; deforestation of tropical rain forest, in response to both international demand for tropical timber and to domestic use as fuel, resulting in loss of biodiversity; soil erosion contributing to water pollution and siltation of rivers and dams; inadequate supplies of potable water. Angola is a developing country at war, and civil unrest has been ongoing since the country's 1975 independence from Portugal.

Boxer stamps from Antigua

Antigua and Barbuda are a pair of sister islands that were required to combine together and become a nation when Great Britain "gave them their freedom." They are a fascinating country with Antigua holding 60 percent of the land and 90 percent of the population. Barbuda is a coral island that does not rise much above sea level. For the Year of the Dog, in 1997, they issued a series of dog stamps consisting of two pages with 12 stamps each, one page of small breeds and one page of large breeds. This lovely Boxer was among them.

Boxer stamp from Buriatia

Buriatia is in southern Siberia near Lake Baykal on the Mongolian borderso most of the Buryat people are Buddhists.
The collapse of the Soviet Union has created a gold mine for stamp collectors. The local governments have issued some wonderful stamps in an effort to sell them to the world market and not even have to provide the associated service of mailing letters with them. This is a real boon when you see such lovely examples as this stamp by Buriatia. This is a second topical stamp from a local Russian government that honors our Boxers in a unique and lovely way. This set was issued in 1997.

Boxer stamps from Dagesan

Dagestan is one of the republics of the former USSR. Located between the Caspian Sea on the East and Caucasus mountains on the West, it is probably one of the most attractive places in that part of the globe. Its area is close to that of Scotland. With population of just above 2 million people, Dagestan is the homeland to over 36 different nationalities, and each one of those nationalities has its own unique language. Such combination of languages, cultures, types of landscape and customs makes it a one of a kind place in the world. These days, however, Dagestan is going through the times of heavy unrest, both political and ethnical.

Boxer stamps from Grenada

Grenada is described as a spice island, since it produces large quantities of cloves and mace and about a third of the world’s nutmeg. It also grows cacao, sugar, bananas and a wide variety of other fruit and vegetables. Some of its beaches, specially Grand Anse, a dazzling two-mile stretch of white sand, are very fine, but the rest of the island is just as beautiful, rising from a generally rugged coast to a spectacular mountainous interior. The island is green, well forested and cultivated and is blessed with plenty of rain in the wet season. Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands. In contrast to other Windward Islands which have had a similar history of disputed ownership between the French and English, the French cultural influence in Grenada has completely died out. The population is very young; 38% are under 15 years old and nearly 26% are in the 15-29 years’ age bracket. Grenada has two dependencies in the Grenadines chain, Carriacou and Petit (often spelt Petite) Martinique.
The island nation of Grenada issued a most remarkable set of stamps in 1997. Each dog is paired with a famous tourist site from its country of origin. In the case of the Boxer, it is Traitor's Gate in the U.K.

Boxer stamp from Kalmykia

Kalmykia is a republic within the Russian Federation. The Kalmyks settled the Volga River region in the seventeenth century. A Mongol people, they were originally Buddhist in faith. Annexed to Russian in 1771, a Kalmyk Autonomous Province was created by the Bolsheviks in 1920. This was abolished during the Second World War, when, in common with many other ethnic minorities, the Kalmyks were deemed to have displayed insufficient enthusiasm for fighting for Communism. The customary mass deportations followed. An Autonomous Republic was re-established in 1958. This lovely stamp was issued in 1999.

Boxer stamp from Karelia

This stamp from Karelia was put out in 2001.
Karjala and Karelia are one and the same country. It is an autonomous republic within Russia with 800,00 inhabitants, only 11.1% are Karelian. Russians are the vast majority. About 90,00 people speak Karelian (Uralic language close to Finnish) out of an ethnic group out of 145,00 in Russia. The Republic of Karelia is a remarkably beautiful land of white nights, boundless forests, and blue lakes. It is located on the border of Western and Eastern Europe, on the border of cultures and religions. Severe beauty of its nature, the climate, not too favourable in these latitudes, the coexistence and intermingling of various peoples inhabiting this land for centuries all that conditioned the character of the people living here: very laconic, self-assured, contemplative, and tolerant people. It also accounts for the fact that there is no national strife and terrorism in this land.

Boxer stamp from Karakalpakia

Karakalpakia, now under the domain of Uzbekistan, is on the edge of the shrinking Aral Sea, which has recently revealed a shocking scale of environmentally induced disease. Women and children are most severely affected from the spread of pesticides and other pollutants as the lake - once the fourth largest in the world - has turned into a desert, its waters siphoned off to irrigate vast cotton fields and rice paddies in Central Asia. Over 20 per cent of the young women, aged 13-19, have kidney disease, and another 23 per cent suffer from thyroid dysfunctions. And many women have high levels of lead, zinc and strontium in their blood. Although the Aral Sea probably has less than 10 years of life left, if nothing is done to salvage what remains of it, the 1.1 million residents of Karakalpakia are under immediate health threats. If nothing is done to improve the health of the people we may be witnessing the end of another entire society as a result of human folly. This stamp was issued in 1999.

Boxer stamp from Monaco

Each year, Monaco issues a new stamp to commemorate the International Show held there. This one is a little different, since it was issued for the Boxer and Doberman specialties held in 1998.
Economic development was spurred in the late 19th century with a railroad linkup to France and the opening of a casino. Since then, the principality's mild climate, splendid scenery, and gambling facilities have made Monaco world famous as a tourist and recreation center. Monaco is located in western Europe, bordering the Mediterranean Sea on the southern coast of France, near the border of Italy. It is about three times the size of The Mall in Washington DC. It has no natural resources and no natural hazards. It is the second smallest independent state in the world (after Holy See); almost entirely urban with a population of about 31,987. Its official language is French, with English, Italian and Monegasque. It is a constitutional monarchy. Its independence was in 1419 (beginning of the rule by the House of Grimaldi). The Chief of State: Prince RAINIER III (since 9 May 1949); Heir Apparent Prince ALBERT Alexandre Louis Pierre, son of the Monarch (born 14 March 1958). Boxer stamp from Mozam

Mozambique is 111 years old. The country came into existence in its present form as a result of an Anglo-Portuguese treaty of May 1891 and gained its independence from Portugal in 1975. The Mozambique created in 1891 was not a piece of random map drawing but an attempt to make sense of the history of the region in a single colonial state. In doing so, it accepted a part of the African coast, which was established in the sixteenth century when the Portuguese divided their command in eastern Africa between the states of Mozambique and Mombassa. This lovely Boxer was issued by Mozambique in 1979.

Boxer stamps from Nagaland

One of the smallest states of the Indian Union, Nagaland is almost unexplored, as far as tourist destinations are concerned. A starkly remote terrain and scenery makes Nagaland a place worth a visit for those adventurous in spirit. Situated in the northeastern corner of the country, Nagaland is home to myriad tribes and sub tribes. Nagaland put out only this one dog set as far as I know, back in the 1970's. I don't have any information of who the dog is in the photograph.

Boxer stamp from St. Thomas

A wonderful artistic version of the Boxer from Sao Tome E Principle. Unfortunatley I do not have the name of the artist. Discovered and claimed by Portugal in the late 15th century, the islands' sugar-based economy gave way to coffee and cocoa in the 19th century - all grown with plantation slave labor, a form of which lingered into the 20th century. Although independence was achieved in 1975, democratic reforms were not instituted until the late 1980s. Though the first free elections were held in 1991, the political environment has been one of continued instability with frequent changes in leadership and coup attempts in 1995 and 2003. The recent discovery of oil in the Gulf of Guinea is likely to have a significant impact on the country's economy. Located in Western Africa, islands in the Gulf of Guinea, straddling the Equator, west of Gabon. It is more than 5 times the size of Wahington, D.C. The climate is tropical; hot humid; one rainy season (October to May).

Boxer stamp from Gambia

This Boxer puppy is certainly outstanding on this souvenir sheet even tho the large headstudy is of a Cocker Spaniel puppy. What a wonderful portrait of a deserving breed. The Gambia is a long and narrow country in West Africa that parallels and takes in both sides of the Gambia River. It is surrounded by Senegal on all sides, except on the Atlantic coast, and for this reason the two countries have a lot of ethnic and cultural ties. In contrast to Senegal, a former French colony, The Gambia was colonized by Britain and gained its Independence on February 18, 1965.

Sierra Leone was a British colony to which freed slaves returned in the late 1700's. Little of this national income trickled down to benefit the rest of the population.
