Border Terrier stamp from Bermuda

This stamp and the one from Mongolia were the only Border Terrier stamps available for a long time. It was issued by the island of Bermuda in 1992.
Bermuda was the first British place outside the United Kingdom to have its own stamp issues. Bermuda (Somer's Isles) has 6 main islands and 120 others in under 21 square miles. Resident population is 62,400. More than 80 percent are Bermudians. Bermuda issued this stamp in 1992. The actual stamp has a postmark, 4 grey horizontal lines across the face. does not obscure the stamp picture.

Border Terrier stamp from Chuvashia Border Terrier stamp from Ingushetia Border Terrier stamp from Bashkiria

The economy in Russia since the break up of the Soviet Union has such high inflation that stamps that were previously issued are not of enough value to mail a letter any more, so to remedy the situation, the local Post Offices have taken blocks of five "old" printed stamps and overprinted them with a new image and a new value. The Border Terrier shown above in the middle is one of these "Russian Overprints" from Ingushetia. These stamps come in a set of five different colored stamps all with the same overprint.(sample to the right). Last time that I got in some overprints, I assumed that they would remain available. I was wrong and I never saw more copies of those. I expect these to be equally as rare and collectable. There is no telling how many of the overprints they produced (not many), since they were never designed to be sold on the world market. They are of value only for a short while until the actual stamps can be printed. The stamp on the left was ultimately issued by Bashkiria and the one on the right by Chuvashia with the Border Terrier image from the overprint from Ingushetia

Border Terrier stamp from Ghana

This Ghana stamp, issued in 1997, is a classic example of artistic license. At first I did not like the set very much, but it has grown on me over time and I find that it is more and more expressive of the wonderful little Border.
Ghana is a nation on the western side of Africa, surrounded by the Ivory Coast, Togoland and the Upper Volta.

Border Terrier stamp from Mongolia

This stamp from Mongolia was probably the first Border Terrier stamp ever produced in 1991, and therefore is probably the best known. The portrait is of a Border owned by Sally and Ted Nist, who were stationed in Monglolia with the US State Department in the 80s or early 90s. I understand that she was Irish bred. What a wonderful portrait of a well loved dog.
Mongolia is located in Northern Asia, between China and Russia. It is slightly smaller than Alaska. The climate is desert, large daily and seasonal temperature ranges. The Gobi Desert is located in the south-central region. Mongolia has dust storms, grassland and forest fires, drought, and "zud" which is harsh winter conditions. The people have limited natural fresh water resources in some areas. The capital is Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia achieved its independence from China July 11, 1921. The unemployment rate is 20%. Mongolia is totally landlocked, therefore economic activity traditionally has been based on agriculture and breeding of livestock.

Border Terrier stamp from Sakhalin

Sakhalin is a very long but narrow island located between Japan and Russian Maritime Territory. It is separated from the continent by a narrow strait of 6 km width and for that reason, Westerners first thought it should be a peninsula. With the Kuril Islands, Sakhalin is one of the territories disputed between Japan and Russia and its belonging has not yet been definitely settled. In 1997, the local government started issuing stamps.

Border Terrier stamp from Somalia

Somalia, also called the Somali Democratic Republic, is located on the Horn of Africa, the easternmost part of the African continent. Although it gained its independence in 1960, nearly constant unrest has kept it from establishing a lasting presence in the area.

Tatarstan is one of the former Russian states along the Volga River. It has been independent since 1994, but even a thousand years ago, it was known as Islam's Northern Mecca. The set of stamps that this Border Terrier is from was issued in 1999 and was just one of several new sets from that country.

* We can take visa/mc/disc or playpal, but they are first come first served, so let me know if you are interested.

* Truly one of the cheapest unique treats for yourself or a friend (great for club trophies as well!)

* It is absolutely true that you will often find some of these stamps at very reasonable prices -- some can be had for under a dollar. On the other hand, if you add in the gas, hours, and hassles that it has taken to find them, you may find it easier to just get them from us while we have them :*) I don't always count on getting more in the near future. I get them when I can find them and the stock is not always constant.

* I do have other breeds available. Let me know and perhaps I can do a page for your breed.
